The Stakeholder Reference Group was established to work alongside us to develop the Moving Forward Together Vision. The Group was composed of Public Partners – service users, patients and carers, representatives from patients’ and carers’ groups, or community groups that have an interest in health and social care.
They heard a series of presentations by the clinical and managerial experts developing some of the ideas, concepts and new ways of working described in the Vision and provided feedback and views on these. They also provided support and guidance on how we should communicate more widely with people about the Programme.
Invites to participate in the Group and represent people were sent to a broad range of individuals and organisations from across Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This included the six Health and Social Care Partnerships, Carers Centres and Voluntary Sector organisations representing service users, patients and carers.
Twenty one people agreed to work with us and regularly attended meetings, received correspondence and provided feedback. The Group chaired by a non executive member of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.
Feedback from participants was largely positive, they understood that there is a need to change how we deliver health and social care services. They also strongly advised us that wherever possible people need to be empowered to improve and self-mange their own health and supported to change how they access and use services.
